Polotsk City Tour

Polotsk is the most ancient city of Belarus, the capital of the Polotsk land - the first Belarusian state. It is located at the confluence of the Polota River into Zapadnaya Dvina, right at the confluence of these rivers, on the hill where the fortress was located at the time, which gave rise to Polotsk. The first prince of the Polotsk land was Rogvolod, whose name was preserved by history thanks to his daughter Rogneda.

During the tour you will visit the Saint Euphrosyne Convent where the relics of Saint Euphrosyne of Polotsk are kept. Also, the Cathedral of Saint Sophia (13th century), built on undestroyed fragments of the Cathedral of the 11th century, visit its museum, and go down into the vault, Symeon of Polotsk Monument, Monument to Euphrosyne of Polotsk, Polotsk National Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve.

Khatyn memorial is a tribute to almost three million Belarusians who died during the Great Patriotic War (World War 2). It stands 54km north-east of Minsk in the Minsk region of Belarus.

Khatyn’s story is not unique. In the Great Patriotic War (World War 2) the inhabitants of 628 Belarus villages were burned alive by the Nazis. 186 of these villages have never rebuilt.
