BELAZ trucks factory tour
We believe that the real must for industrial tourism fans is to see first-hand how the world’s biggest dump trucks (neither more nor less than 450 tonnes!) are assembled. It’s really impressive. On a tour you’ll be told about the production process of Belarusian giants, given away a few secrets and also there’s a chance you’ll be let to have a test drive.
Since the 1960s in Zhodino, a town located 45 km north of Minsk, this factory has been majoring in heavy duty trucks and other heavy machinery. In 1961 a 27-ton truck was designed and produced by BelAZ followed by a 40-ton one. One of its recent products has been featured in the World Guiness book of records - it can carry 450 tons and trucks like this are the major purpose of this tour. In the first part of the tour we will arrive and check in, pay for the entrance and get to see the museum with a presentation film. The hall with the screen is actually the company's museum with models of trucks available for a quick selfie. After that we will get some safety vests and take a ride to the test-drive field. You can become a passenger of that 130-ton truck for a moderate fee of $45 for the ride (about 20 min). By the field there is a workshop with a parking lot where you'll be able to climb and photograph all grand vehicles available on display. Last, but not least, is a quick tea break with Belaz branded cookies.
Tour duration: 4,5 hours, around 110 km round way.
